We are getting closer and closer to the preseason wrapping up around the NFL and teams being faced with the tough choices of who to cut.

For the Cleveland Browns, much of the roster is figured out and they have some depth battles going on. One of those battles that have been going on is for the QB3 job . That job has been between second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and free-agent addition Tyler Huntley.

According to Zac Jackson of The Athletic , the Browns have been willing to discuss trades centered around the second-year quarterback.

"(The Browns) discussed a potential trade of second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson with multiple teams, two league sources with knowledge of the discussions told The Athletic."- Zac Jackson, The Athletic

It appears the Browns may be taking the approach of trying to get something back from the surplus of quarterbacks they have, just like they did last time this year by trading Joshua Dobbs. Cleveland signed two veteran quarterbacks in the offseason with Jamies Winston scheduled to be Deshaun Watson’s backup . Huntley is another player that could be traded at the position, but there has been no talk around his name to this point.

DTR was thrown into the fire too early last year and had a bad three-interception performance early in the year. Later in the year, Thompson-Robinson rebounded to pick up his first win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cleveland ran into quarterback issues last season and ended up having five different starters in 2023. They don’t want that to be the case again but they have to be ready for anything, at least that is what the last two years have shown them.

The Browns spent a fifth-round pick on DTR in the 2023 NFL Draft and he has some upside to work with. If Cleveland were to move him, you would think they would like to at least get back what they used on him.

Up until cutdown day, the quarterback room will be something to monitor from a distance for the Browns.
