The New Orleans Saints had a bit of a scare early in their second preseason game. Rookie cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry hobbled off the field after making a good play on defense.

He immediately was looked at in the injury tent, took some time on the exercise bike, then headed to the locker room. Of course, fans lost their lids, expecting the worst news possible for the young defensive back. Luckily, the latest news on McKinstry is more good news for him and New Orleans.

As Schultz noted, the Saints are hopeful that McKinstry will be active for Week 1.

He's a piece of one of the deepest cornerback rooms in football - when healthy. Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo have both been dealing with minor injuries during training camp and the preseason. As long as they can be ready for Week 1, the group is impressive.

Alontae Taylor has been one of the hardest workers during practice, according to coaches. You can tell he has improved in the slot for New Orleans. They need him to take strides, and he's doing everything he can to ensure that happens in 2024.

Taylor has dominated during the preseason.

For McKinstry, some folks believe that his injuries in college caused his slide to round two of this year's draft. Clearly, the Saints were comfortable with his injury history. They're hoping this injury is just a blip on the radar going forward.

Expect him to get on the field for both defense and special teams as a rookie this season.
