Philadelphia Eagles' starting running back Saquon Barkley was pulled from training camp practice on Tuesday.

According to NBC Sports' John Clark, Barkley exited practice early to get his lower back and leg checked out and rubbed by trainers.

Barkley did not return for the final portion of practice that featured 11-on-11 drills.

This could be nothing but injury scares were a risk that the Eagles took when they signed him to a massive contract during NFL free agency.

Looking back at Barkley's injury history, he tore his ACL in 2020 and sprained his ankle in 2021 and again in 2023. Barkley was, however, fully healthy in 2022 when he rushed for a career-high 1,312 yards. That's the kind of season that the Eagles are hoping for from him in 2024.

    And so is he.

“I want to be the best of all-time," Barkley told reporters on Sunday. "Not trying to sound cocky or anything like that, but the tape speaks for itself. I’m just trying to elevate on that. Trying to expand on my game. I feel like I’ve done a lot of great things in this league, even with battling through injuries, I felt like I made a name for myself, and I feel like in this offense and with the guys I have around me, I’m going to continue to be able to do that.”

If Barkley can stay healthy, then he is set up for success in Philly with an offensive line that is a lot more reliable than what he was dealing with the New York Giants. And because of that, he's supposed to reach more career highs.

But again, he'll need to stay healthy

The good news is that the Eagles are still about three weeks out until their Week 1 season opener in Brazil against the Green Bay Packers.
