Jauan Jennings has a suggestion for 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan that Tennessee Vols fans will love

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings had a suggestion this week for his head coach, Kyle Shanahan, that Tennessee Vols fans will enjoy.

Earlier this offseason, Jennings was reunited with quarterback Josh Dobbs after the 49ers signed the former Tennessee quarterback to a free agent deal.

Jennings and Dobbs, who were teammates for two seasons at Tennessee, famously connected on a game-winning Hail Mary against the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens in 2016.

During an interview with KPIX this week, Jennings said he wants Shanahan to call a Hail Mary play on the "first play of the game".

"Every time I see Dobbs I think of the same thing (the Hail Mary)," said Jennings. "Man, you know, that 1-2-3, wait, wait, launch it and then me catching the ball. It runs in my head over and over and over. I actually told Dobbs that we need to tell Kyle (Shanahan) the first play of the game let's throw a Hail Mary. First play of the game, let's do it."

If everything goes to plan for the 49ers this season, Brock Purdy will start every game at quarterback and Dobbs will spend the season in a backup role. But we've seen that things rarely go to plan in the NFL. If Dobbs finds himself in a position to start a game for the 49ers, we'll keep our eyes open for a Hail Mary on the first play of the game (though we won't be holding our breath that it will actually happen).
