Tyreek Hill stirred some concern on social media on Tuesday when it was reported that he was spotted at practice wearing a brace on his hand and was not participating in all team activities.

Mike McDaniel confirmed on Wednesday from Tampa, where the Dolphins are having joint practices with the Buccaneers ahead of their final preseason game on Friday , that Hill indeed is dealing with a hand injury and is being limited to ensure his availability in the regular season isn't affected.

"Yeah, I'm really good at thumb war. He lost," McDaniel quipped before turning to his response. "I kind of alluded to it with Jaylen Waddle back at home. There's certain situations where you're in training camp and you're practicing, and Tyreek could practice today.  However, there's also times that because of the timing of where their bodies are at, kind of puts them at risk to get further injury.

"So, it's really from a medical standpoint, you're just trying to let something cool down so you don't have something happen at the expense of regular season games.  So he's been very active, but we're trying to make sure we keep him out of harm's way.

"He'll be around but yeah, he will be participating in team [activities]."

That's a pretty no brainer move for McDaniel and the Dolphins.  There are certain players on the roster who don't need much work to get primed for the season, and Hill is certainly one of those guys.

Hill's value to this team is far, far, far too great to risk for at least some types of preseason work, although McDaniel said he'd be involved in some team activities.  And the Dolphins have had perhaps the worst luck on the injury front than any team in the league during McDaniel's tenure as head coach.

As such, Dolphins fans hoping to get their first look at the Cheetah this year should get it when #10 trots out of the huddle on Sunday, September 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Hard Rock Stadium.  Provided of course the injury isn't significant like McDaniel implies isn't not.

After all, the breaks haven't exactly been going the Dolphins' way in the training room recently.
