The Tennessee Vols' top 2025 commit was named this week by 247Sports as the one of college football's 50 freakiest recruits.

247Sports unveiled their fourth annual college football recruiting freaks list on Wednesday and five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr was included on their list.

Sanders committed to the Vols earlier this week.

From 247Sports : David Sanders Jr. might be viewed as a potential franchise left tackle with his twitch and balance, but he's the type of prospect who needs to add some mass to a more slender frame if he's going to reach his ceiling. Still, it's hard not to admire just how far the nation's No. 3 overall prospect has come in such a short amount of time.

After power cleaning 285 pounds as a skinny freshman at Charlotte's Providence Day, the future Vol joined the 1,200-pound club this offseason, clearing 350 pounds on the bench press, 370 pounds on the power clean and 505 pounds on the back squat. The 6-foot-6 Sanders is also a two-time state qualifier in both the shot put and discus that hit 19 mph on a GPS tracking device during an offseason workout as a freshman.

The reigning Gatorade Player of the Year in North Carolina has had to deal with some injuries, but he's an elite athlete at a premium position who will do whatever it takes to win.

Sanders, 6-foot-6/290 lbs from Charlotte, NC, is rated as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class.

The five-star recruit isn't just talented, he's incredibly tough, too. Sanders reportedly played through a shoulder injury during his junior season of high school football. There are plenty of recruits that would play it safe in that situation and take some time off. But Sanders wanted to be there for his teammates. So not only are the Vols getting an extremely talented offensive lineman, but they're getting an elite competitor, too.
