On Thursday, the Philadelphia Eagles went straight to NFC East rival Washington Commanders to add another weapon to their offense.

The team announced via Twitter/X that they had agreed to terms on a trade with the Commanders for wide receiver Jahan Dotson along with a 2025 fifth-round pick.

In exchange, the Eagles sent a 2025 third-round pick and two seventh-round picks to Washington.

Dotson, 24, was originally a 16th overall pick out of Penn State by the Commanders in the 2022 NFL Draft. It's clear that Washington appeared to be okay moving on from him since he had not made much of an impact in their offense as a former first-round selection.

In two seasons with the Washington, Dotson hauled in 84 passes for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Those numbers could spike for Dotson in 2024.

The Eagles don't have a wide receiver No. 3 locked in yet, so if all goes well for Dotson through practices and in the preseason finale on Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings, then he could find himself in a larger role in Philly.

Before entering the league, Dotson was a standout with the Nittany Lions from 2018 to 2021. He finished his career tied for second all-time at Penn State in receptions (183) and receiving touchdowns (25) and fourth in receiving yards (2,757). He was also awarded a first and second-team All-Big Ten nod.

Dotson, a Newark, NJ, is now even closer to home and will be surrounded by Nittany Lions fans, which could motivate him to perform better.

He also reunites with his former PSU teammate Saquon Barkley .
