The Oklahoma Sooners are in the SEC, finally, it's here, and very soon they will play their first-ever game as an SEC team against the Temple Owls. However, entering the SEC, they have gotten a ton of criticism, and many national media do not think the Sooners are made for the conference where the slogan is "It Just Means More."

Josh Pate, known for his insights on college football through platforms like "The Late Kick with Josh Pate" and contributions to 247Sports, has provided several perspectives on the Oklahoma Sooners as they transition into the SEC for the 2024 season.

He is one of the few guys who has remained high on the Sooners being in the SEC, not necessarily for this season, but that the team does deserve to be in the conference.

Before we dive into that, let's not forget the history of a school like Oklahoma. They have more than enough history and prestige to be in the conference , for some reason, everyone seems to forget that. And, head coach Brent Venables is trending them back in that direction.

Pate ranked Oklahoma as the fifth-best team in the SEC for the 2024 season, suggesting they could be an 8-4 or 9-3 team. This ranking reflects his assessment of Oklahoma's talent acquisition, on-field performance, and stability, indicating they're well-positioned but still adjusting to the SEC's competitive landscape.

Pate highlighted two pivotal weeks in Oklahoma's schedule that could define their season. He pointed out the games against Tennessee (at home) and at Auburn as crucial, suggesting that how Oklahoma performs in these games could determine if they'll be a serious contender for the SEC title or just a competitive team in their first SEC season.

So, he doesn't think they are going to just outright win the SEC, which is fine, but he's not one of these mainstream media guys who is saying college football is leaving Oklahoma.

"College Football isn't leaving Oklahoma. It's built FOR Oklahoma," Pate tweeted. "Oklahoma fits the SEC profile like a glove. This is not some oil-in-water situation. Oklahoma is at the head table of college football, and they will be at the head table of college football for a while."

The Sooners are made for the SEC. The SEC is made for Oklahoma.
