Saints' rookie phenom losing momentum before final preseason game that may cost him his roster spot

The New Orleans Saints have to face a tough truth as their preseason finishes. One of their notable UDFA signings remains on the shelf. Position battles have not slowed down, but he has not been able to put his best foot forward recently due to his injury.

Saints' Mason Tipton won't play in final preseason game

Tipton suffered a hamstring injury during practice last month and has not been 100% since. He did return to some individual drills this week in practice, but he is not expected to suit up against the Tennessee Titans.

The undrafted wideout was impressive early in camp and had seemingly solidified a great chance at a roster spot. Now, that's much more up in the air.

The young WR's explosiveness and fluidity have made an impression on the staff around the Saints. He's quickly gaining respect.

As of now, it's tough to see Tipton on the 53-man roster entering Week 1. He has not been healthy in over three weeks, and we never got to see preseason game reps from him.

Even after gaining momentum over a month ago, players have been able to get on the field at the wide receiver position. Most of them have been veterans - as the position battle has heated up.
