Former Ole Miss running back Zach Evans might have inched closer to securing a spot on the Los Angeles Rams' 53-man roster with his performance in the team's preseason finale against the Houston Texans.

Evans toted the ball 14 times for 45 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's loss. The former Rebel is in a competitive battle for the fourth and final running back roster spot with seasoned veteran Boston Scott.

Scott has had a productive preseason himself, but Rams head coach Sean McVay will have a decision to make between the 2022 sixth-round draft pick and Scott, who turned 29 years old in April. Evans played in 10 games for the Rams in 2023, but only had nine carries for 19 yards.

Evans' ability to catch the ball out of the backfield is something every NFL team is looking for, so even if the Rams cut the former Rebel he should be able to find a home elsewhere.
