If the Jahan Dotson trade didn't make everyone, everywhere, completely aware that this is an entirely new era for the Washington Commanders, then Tuesday's reports of the team trying to ship out more players has to be the final cue.

Per Washington Post's Nicki Jhabvala, the Commanders are trying to trade tight end Cole Turner. Per ESPN's John Keim, defensive tackle John Ridgeway III is also a candidate, and per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, center Ricky Stromberg is a "name to watch", as well.

The news makes sense, considering the Commanders have been very, very quiet as the NFL's cutdown deadline approaches. Their first move didn't come until late Tuesday morning after finishing the final preseason game on Sunday night. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, for instance, had their 53-man roster all set and done before Monday evening's dinnertime.

Ridgeway is a "Dan Quinn guy" through and through

Quinn and Ridgeway go back to the Dallas days, where Ridgeway really caught the former defensive coordinator's attention. Perhaps the team is just listening to see what exactly they could get for the veteran, but at the same time, it'll be weird to see them ship off a guy that can help build the locker room culture, and overall culture, Quinn and general manager Adam Peters have been adamant about establishing since their arrival.

If the Commanders do trade Ridgeway, it could mean good news for Johnny Newton's recovery, as it would point toward the team having confidence in his Week 1 status.

Turner and Stromberg are both holdovers from the Ron Rivera era. The former was drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and the latter was taken in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Stromberg has just 26 offensive snaps of experience under his belt, while Turner has nearly 400 offensive snaps and almost 200 special teams snaps worth of experience. He's recorded 13 receptions for 143-yards on 24 targets during his time with the Commanders.

What could the Commanders get for any of these guys in a trade?

In terms of trade value, it won't be much. Day 3 picks, likely sixth- and seventh-rounders. If a fifth gets thrown in anywhere, at all, it's a major win. Don't expect that to happen, though.

There's still plenty of time left before the NFL's cutdown deadline. We'll see what happens.
