There has been a lot of rumors circling since the roster cut deadline that the Buffalo Bills were in discussion with former Broncos WR Jalen Virgil. It was reported that he was signing, then Brandon Beane debunked that on Wednesday, but confirmed that they were talking to him.

Now, the move is official, with the Bills bringing Virgil onto the practice squad . Wide receiver Deon Cain was released to make room.

    Getting to know Jalen Virgil

Virgil is a former undrafted free agent that played at Appalachian State. he's raw, but he has elite athleticism. At 6'0" 207 lbs, Virgil ran a 4.35 second 40-yard dash. He has decent length and plenty of long speed.

If Brandon Beane is looking for a speedy receiver that can contribute in special teams, then Virgil is that guy. Virgil is also a very strong blocker, something that Beane covets. Watch No. 15 towards the bottom of the formation on the key block below.

In 2020, Virgil was on the College Football Freaks List with his athleticism. As a part of Appalachian State's track team, Virgil logged a 40.5" vertical jump and ran the 100 meter dash in 10.29 seconds. He also recorded with a 600 lbs box squat.

In the 2023 preseason, Virgil tore his meniscus and ended up not playing for the Broncos. Now fully healed from the injury, Virgil is back to his explosive ways and will offer another depth piece to the Buffalo practice squad.
