Ravens’ latest signing may give them an advantage over a division rival during 2024 season

A reunion! The Baltimore Ravens are taking advantage of a recent decision by the Cleveland Browns. The purple and black are bringing back a former quarterback of their own.

Ravens to sign Tyler Huntley after short stint with Browns

The concept that time with another team can give a player's new team can be overrated at times.

That being said, Huntley was brought in by Cleveland because he fit the style of QB that Deshaun Watson is. There's no doubt that his practice reps mimicked many of the concepts that the Browns will try to use for Watson's offense this season.

Huntley's time with the Browns certainly can't hurt the Ravens in their preparation in playing them this year.

Ultimately, Huntley was the odd man out in a crowded QB room for the Browns, though. They chose to keep Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson on their roster over Huntley. Winston is expected to be the backup.

As for Baltimore, Huntley immediately slides into a QB competition with Josh Johnson behind Lamar Jackson. We will see if the Ravens choose to have all three on the 53-man roster. I would not be shocked if they do, considering the running upside and usage in their offense.

Since entering the NFL in 2020, Huntley has only ever played for Baltimore in the regular season.

During his action, he's thrown for 1,957 passing yards on a 64.6% completion percentage. He's thrown for 8 touchdowns while rushing for 3 of them, too. Huntley has scampered for 509 rushing yards so far in his pro career.

He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2022 after filling in for Jackson while he was injured.

We will see if Huntley's time in Cleveland can lend itself to some defensive success for the Ravens against their AFC North rival in 2024.
