There were plenty of shining moments from the Georgia Bulldogs' 34-3 win over the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game on Saturday, but head coach Kirby Smart wants Dawgs fans to start talking about and putting more respect on this one guy: junior running back Cash Jones.

With starting running back Trevor Etienne suspended for Week 1, Jones' workload increased as an RB3 and he didn't disappoint.

Jones finished the day with one carry for 15 yards and a touchdown. He also had two catches for an additional 14 yards, but it was his pass-blocking skills and understanding of Georgia's system put on full display that Smart was most impressed with.

More specifically, in the fourth quarter when Jones had a nice block on a blitz pickup to set up a 40-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver London Humphreys.

“Cash Jones had the pick of the day on a blitz pickup," Smart said after the game. "No one’s talking about that. He’s been in our system for four years and it paid off today.”

This isn't the first time that Smart said more people need to start talking about the 2021 walk-on running back.

He also shouted out Jones during fall camp following the team's first scrimmage.

"That [running back] room has been really good in camp," Smart told reporters . "They've worked really hard. Cash is a guy they just don't give enough credit to. He's great at picking things up."

Jones played in 14 for the Bulldogs last fall. He showed off his dual-threat abilities as he rushed for 161 yards and one touchdown on 22 attempts while hauling in another 92 yards and one touchdown on 11 catches.

Expect him to do a lot more for the Dawgs in 2024.
