Kirby Smart hints at Georgia's plan for freshman RB Nate Frazier moving forward

Georgia put up a dominant 34-3 performance against the Clemson Tigers on Saturday afternoon which starred Bulldogs freshman running back Nate Frazier .

Frazier ended the day leading the backfield with 11 rushes for 83 yards and a score. He also had one catch for 24 yards.

Heading into the matchup, Frazier was the fourth running back on the depth chart with Branson Robinson ultimately getting the start before him with Trevor Etienne suspended and Roderick Robinson II injured.

But following a solid performance by Frazier, could we see the young back make his way up the chart?

Head coach Kirby Smart wouldn't answer that. But what he did say, is that Georgia doesn't do depth charts. Instead, he and the rest of the staff evaluate players at practice throughout the week and play or start those who looked the best.

"We don’t do depth charts at running back," Smart said. Cash Jones had a great day , too, and I was really proud of all those guys stepping up.

"But there’s no depth chart. We play the guys that have the best week in practice."

That means we can't count out Frazier moving behind Etienne or even getting a start here and there down the road this season, and that should make plenty of Bulldogs fans happy.

However, Smart says Frazier, who joined the team in early June, still has some catching up to do before that time comes.

"He’s a great kid," Smart said. "He got an opportunity; he seized the moment. A lot of people locked in front of him. And like I told you, Chauncey Mullins is a good back. He will have an opportunity to grow and play.

"So I’m looking forward to that room because I think we got some juice in that room as they get more experience. Look, guys, Nate is a long way from a complete package. He wasn’t here in the spring, so he missed 15 practices of intense work that he’s trying to play catch-up on."
