Russell Wilson is no stranbger to crticism.

Despite winning the starting QB battle for the Pittsburgh Steelers before it even started, many were hoping and wishing that Justin Fields would claim said title.

One of those people was Mark Schlereth, who has a little bit of history with Wilson, and he let him hear it, yet again:

    Schlereth Calls Out Wilson

“I'm gonna say five (games until Wilson is benched),” said Schlereth during a recent episode of his ‘Stinkin Truth' podcast. “I just think that the way the Pittsburgh Steelers are gonna have to be built, what they’re gonna have to build themselves on is the running game and using the quarterback element in the run game...

“...Do I think they may be able to compete for a playoff spot? Yeah, but the issue is, and this is what got Russ out of Seattle and Denver, Russ isn’t willing to admit he’s not good at stuff. He’s delusional. If you’re not willing to admit it, then you can’t fix it.”

For one reason or another "Stink" has never been a fan of Wilson. Likely dating back to Wilson's tenure with the Denver Broncos, a franchise where Stink won two Super Bowls as part of the teams that featured John Elway as their signal caller.

So it's safe to say that he one, knows what good QB play is, and two, is plugged in with the organization, meaning he's hearing this kind of stuff from within the building.

It's a stark contrast to the rhetoric surrounding Wilson in Pittsburgh , who was lauded by his coaches and teammates after being voted a captain by the rest of the team:

“He's a strong leader, and he brings veteran experience, said fellow team captain Miles Killebrew. "He's been doing it at a high level for a long time and I think with that experience he kind of calms nerves, and he can lead guys through various situations because he's seen it. He's seen a lot, so just a calming presence, I would say.”

So delusional? I don't know. We know Wilson is an eternal optimist, and that can wear on folks when the losing outweighs the winning in the win-loss column.

But if Wilson can find a way to keep the standard of making that the inverse in Pittsburgh, he can be as delusional as he wants.
