Former NFL Pro Bowler and elite offensive line coach identifies Georgia starter as the next great Bulldogs center

Once again, the Georgia Bulldogs have an embarrassment of riches in the trenches. On the heels of their 34-3 Week 1 win against Clemson, NFL evaluators are flocking to see how Kirby Smart has his Bulldogs prepared.

The answer is the Bulldogs hit the ground running thanks to their offensive line play. Center Jared Wilson is the core of that, and we saw a former NFL Pro Bowler and current offensive line coach, plus ESPN NFL Draft Analysts, rush to praise Wilson. It's easy to see why when looking at the film.

LeCharles Bentley, who was an incredible center for the Ohio State Buckeyes and New Orleans Saints until a terrible knee infection ended his career, is now the premier offensive line developer in the nation. Bentley took to Twitter to praise Wilson's game against a tremendous Clemson defensive front.

He noted that Wilson's impact in the run game is "outstanding." He lauded Wilson's ability to use his strong hands, reliably good lower-body anchor, and refinement of his pad level. Wilson's technique extends from his shoulders to his feet, and leads to high-end success.

Bentley wasn't the only evaluator looking at Wilson's performance, as Georgia ran for 169 yards and averaged 7.5 yards per play. ESPN draft expert Jordan Reid also named him, and ESPN's Matt Miller chimed in that Wilson is the best center in the 2025 class.

Jared Wilson 2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Here are my notes on Wilson from this offseason:

Wilson's exceptional athletic abilities and deep understanding of football make him an ideal candidate for offenses that utilize zone schemes. His proficiency in securing reach blocks and advancing to the second level makes him attractive to teams that favor wide-zone strategies.

However, his limited game experience might require some time on the bench for technique refinement. Investing in Wilson could yield a ready-to-go center capable of contributing with a high potential.

Even though Wilson needs polishing in certain areas, his unique ability to move and read defensive alignments lays a strong groundwork. The transition from linebacker to center highlights his versatile skill set, which is highly prized professionally. By improving his base stability and hand techniques, Wilson possesses all the necessary attributes to become an immediate starter.

Given his existing talents and capacity for growth, Wilson is anticipated to be a day-two draft selection with the qualities of a starting player. His journey from a high school linebacker to an SEC center underscores his football intelligence and dedication, traits essential for securing a lasting position in the NFL.
