A to Z Sports Titans Reporter Sam Phalen to compete on Survivor 47

A to Z Sports is proud to announce that one of their own will be featured as one of the castaways competing on CBS' Survivor 47 television show this fall. Sam Phalen, a Tennessee Titans reporter for A to Z Sports, has been covering the team for three years now. He's best known for his extensive editorial work and A to Z Sports live shows covering the Titans year-round. Now he'll get the opportunity to star on a completly different kind of show entirely.

"My first memory is me and my brother sitting cross-legged as Jeff [Probst] is reading the votes in "Survivor: Cook Islands"...Sports and Survivor were like two of my things growing up, and I hit the age where you kind of realize, 'Okay, not going to be a professional athlete for a living. How else can I get involved?'...Sports reporting gave me an outlet. I think in sports reporting you have to know how to stroke an ego. How to ask the right question to get information out of people. I've kind of fine-tuned those skills." - Sam Phalen

CBS released the full list of castaways for Survivor 47 on Wednesday, just two weeks before the season is set to kick off. Phalen will be competing against 17 other contestants to take home $1 million dollars. This has been a life long dream for Phalen as he shared in his detailed bio featured in a report from Entertainment Weekly .

"Playing Survivor is a childhood dream. I love both mental and physical competitions. Survivor is the greatest game ever created and I need to prove I have what it takes. Also...$1 million dollars."

Survivor 47 begins on September 18th later this month with a special two-hour premier episode. From then on out episodes will release weekly on Wednesdays at 7pm CT on CBS. We'll see if Sam's life long dream and preparation for this momentous opportunity prove to be enough to crown him the winner of Survivor here very soon.
