Last Saturday was the first time that the Alabama Crimson Tide took the field without Nick Saban as their head coach. It was a great debut for new head coach Kalen DeBoer, as they smoked Western Kentucky 63-0.

The game itself wasn't close and it displayed an element to the Crimson Tide offense that will prove to be a problem for the new look SEC.

    Week 0 and 1: 3-3
    2024 record: 3-3 (100%)
    Career record: 166-157-5 (51.4%)

All odds from DraftKings Sportsbook unless otherwise noted

    South Florida +30.5 (-110) vs. Alabama -30.5 (-110)

Alabama put up some bonkers advanced metrics against the Hilltoppers.

    • 0.29 EPA/play: 91st percentile
    • 9.23 yards/play: 97th percentile
    • 0.86 EPA/dropback: 98th percentile
    • 14.0 yards/dropback: 99th percentile
    • 16% havoc rate: 87th percentile

All but one of those came from the offense and that unit was impressive. Quarterback Jalen Milroe was a monster in week one. He only attempted nine passes but completed seven of them for 193 yards and three touchdowns along with nine carries for 86 yards and two more. The offense looked explosive and Milroe looks more comfortable in the pocket than he did last season.

The defense was excellent all game, creating a lot of issues for the Hilltoppers. They held to one of the highest-volume passing teams to 22 completions for 93 yards. They created a lot of havoc which will translate moving forward.

Week one of the South Florida season saw them host Bethune Cookman and they took care of business 48-3. The score was lopsided but it wasn't the most impressive performance by the Bulls. They weren't overly explosive on the ground or through the air. They only had 172 yards threw the air and averaged a shade over 5.0 yards/carry on 43 attempts.

This game boils down to three elements:

    • Homefield advantage for Alabama
    • Getting revenge for a disastrous game last season
    • Immense talent gap

Brown has all the tools to be really good in both college and potentially the pros. It's not going to be enough for them against the Crimson Tide, who have all the pieces and a blossoming superstar quarterback to not just win, but cover with ease.

    Bet : Alabama -30.5 (-110)
