On both sides of the football, each team will designate players to have the green dot on their helmets. They are able to get the play call from the sidelines during the game up until the 15-second mark of the play clock. The quarterback exclusively has the green dot on offense and a linebacker usually gets it on defense.

Earlier this offseason, we found out that second-year Minnesota Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. would be wearing the green dot . That is changing for week one as that responsibility will be given to his fellow linebacker Blake Cashman.

"I don't think I got the green dot right now. I think Cash (Blake Cashman) got it. It don't matter, I'm still gonna go out there and ball."

It's quite an interesting shift by the Vikings staff. The communication aspect for the team should be consistent on multiple levels. It's also interesting to hear that Cashman will get the dot right before the season when it was presumed by many through the offseason that Pace would be the guy to wear it.

He didn't seem to worried about it when SKOR North's Darren Wolfson asked him if he was good with the decision.

"Yeah, I'm good. It is what it is man. Coaches have other plans and I'm gonna go and get it one day.

The answer from Pace was genuine and spoke highly about the synergy that he and Cashman have. I don't think it will matter which player wears the dot, but with Pace getting it at the end of last season and during the offseason, he will be ready if and when the time comes to don it again.
