It wasn't pretty but professional football is far from a beauty pagent, and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons put that to the test on Sunday.

An 18-10 win with no TDs from Pittsburgh, the QB play from Justin Fields wasn't bad, but it didn't exactly inspire confidence.

So is Russell Wilson back starting if healthy? Mike Tomlin says wait and see:

Justin Fields or Russell Wilson in Week 2?

Tomlin said to come back next week if you want an answer at QB, but you can glean into which way he's leaning when analyzing the quotes about both Justin Fields performance and Russell Wilson's availability:

"Really appreciative of his efforts and his play, certainly," said Coach Tomlin when asked about Justin Fields' performance. A quick and candid take on what he saw, Coach Tomlin was more elaborate when asked about the decision to not play Wilson:

"It's really, you know, not a long, drawn-out process. I'd rather deal with short-term misery, said Tomlin when asked about holding Russell Wilson out . "To be quite honest with you, we're in Week 1. There's a lot of ball out in front of us. I just thought it was appropriate to put the healthy guys on the field. I felt really good about both quarterbacks. I was very clear to you guys when I named Russ the starter, how comfortable I was with both quarterbacks. And so if that is true, why not be really comfortable with playing Justin under the circumstances with Russ being in less than ideal physical shape. And so that was the thought process. It wasn't a lot of discussion. Russ was very supportive today, and that was appreciated, but we went with Justin man. I'm glad we got two real capable quarterbacks, as I've mentioned before."

We'll see just how short-term Russell Wilson's misery was come Tuesday.
