Steelers' T.J. Watt addresses the officials regarding controversial call that could cost him

T.J. Watt was back to his old ways during his Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Looking to lead the league in sacks yet again, the Pittsburgh Steelers star could have had three on Sunday, but he ended up with only one.

And one of the penalties that cost him a sack was by his own doing, only Watt didn't see it that way and neither did the officials well after the damage was done:

"Yeah, especially when the official says he messed it up after the first half he went in and saw it, so," Watt told Mike Garafolo of NFL Network on Sunday . "Glad to get the get-back. Honestly, more than anything, just happy Steeler Nation came out today, had him on a silent count at home. That's very demoralizing for opposing offenses, and super happy to start the season with a win."

Timing the snap is an art, and one that takes not only physical ability but an immense amount of time in the film room studying your opponent and other offenses in general.

"It just sucks when you study so hard and find a little nugget, a golden nugget, and you get it and it gets taken away from you, Watt said in his postgame presser. "So that was unfortunate, but it's not going to turn you from continuing to study and making those plays and the future adjustments."

Every sack matters for every player, but especially one as decorated as T.J. Watt, who is on the precipice of becoming the only player in NFL history to record 19 sacks or more in a season at least three times.

A three-sack outing sure would have helped that cause, but one will have to do.
