That Kansas City Chiefs started out the 2024 NFL season 1-0 with a victory over an AFC conference rival in the Baltimore Ravens.

Fans of the reigning Super Bowl champions know all too well after the 2023 NFL season that it's not about how you start, but how you finish the year. That can be said of a single game, but also an entire season. You have to keep your eyes on the prize, but do so in a very systematic, game-by-game way. The team that gets you across the finish line isn't always the same team that kicks off the year in prime time.

After the game, amidst the celebration and excitement of the win, Chiefs HC Andy Reid brought his team back to reality with his own version of the famed platitude of football.

"Hey! How 'bout those Chiefs! Now, listen. That's one out of 17. One out of 17. So, we stay humble. Stay humble. We get some rest here. Get a little rest. Take care of yourselves when you're off. It's a normal week next week. So, it starts on Tuesday. You've got all that time. Make sure you take care of yourselves. Man alive, that was a great win. Let's take a knee." - Chiefs HC Andy Reid

The Chiefs often preach taking one game at a time and not thinking too far ahead, but it's also important to keep perspective that they've got 16 more games ahead of themselves before the playoffs even arrive. They need to treat each of those games with the proper amount of preparation and respect.

They face another tough AFC North opponent in Week 2 as the Cincinnati Bengals are set to travel to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. They're perhaps the team's most bitter non-divisional rival during the Patrick Mahomes era. After that emotional Week 1 win over the Ravens, it's important to stay humble and keep that perspective. They don't want to fall victim to overlooking a Bengals team that's coming off an upset loss in Week 1 and would love nothing more than to upset the Chiefs at home.

The Bengals didn't look all that great last week but we know not to underestimate any team.
