Steve Spurrier had a very Spurrier-like reaction to Tennessee Vols' blowout win against NC State

The Tennessee Vols impressed most of the country on Saturday night via their dismantling of the NC State Wolfpack.

Tennessee dominated NC State in Charlotte en route to a 51-10 blowout win.

The win seemingly cemented the Vols as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender.

Not everyone, however, thinks that beating NC State, which was ranked No. 24 at the time, was a big deal.

Former Florida Gators head coach Steve Spurrier said on Monday, during his weekly appearance on Another Dooley Noted Podcast , that Tennessee looked good on Saturday, before suggesting that they haven't played a real opponent yet.

"The SEC teams that really looked good, obviously Georgia," said Spurier. "But Ole Miss and Tennessee -- now they haven't played a real big opponent. NC State, I think is going to be average this year. But those teams looked really good."

Leave it to Spurrier to compliment the Vols in a backhanded way. Of course, that's what we expect from the Head Ball Coach at this point (and honestly, I hope Spurrier never changes...it's great for college football).

As for the actual comment, it's far too early to know how good or bad NC State will be this season. But even if they're "average", it was still an incredibly impressive/dominant performance by the Vols.

And NC State is certainly a higher quality opponent than either of the two teams that Ole Miss has played this season (Furman and Middle Tennessee State). Beating a Power-4 opponent by 41 points is always impressive, regardless of what Spurrier says.
