Cleveland Browns take a small loss not long after awful game against Cowboys

There was a very good chance that the Cleveland Browns were going to add an extra draft pick for the 2025 NFL Draft but that is no longer the case.

When the Cleveland Browns traded kicker Cade York to the Washington Commanders they received a conditional seventh-round selection. For the Browns to receive that draft pick, York needed to be active for at least two games with Washington.

Following his 0-for-2 performance on field goals in the Commanders’ lopsided loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield in Week 1, the Commanders decided to go in a different direction .

York made just 75 percent of his kicks as a rookie and the Browns parted ways with him during the 2023 preseason. The Browns brought him back this offseason and he spent much of training camp with the team. Now, he will again look for another team in the NFL.

On an interesting note, the Commanders replaced the former Browns kicker with another former Browns kicker. Austin Seibert handled the kicking duties for Cleveland during the 2019 season.

A day after an ugly loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Browns take another small loss by missing out on a draft pick by just one game needed. It is only a seventh-round pick, but those kind of picks can be packaged together for other assets. The Browns are not going to lose any sleep over it, but they surely would have taken the extra draft pick.
