Ravens linebacker rips Chiefs training staff for care he received in Week 1

In the Kansas City Chiefs season opener against the Ravens, Baltimore linebacker Kyle Van Noy suffered a fractured orbital bone in the face.

And on Tuesday, he spoke on his Yahoo! Sports podcasts about the treatment he received from the Chiefs athletic trainers.

In short: he was REALLY not happy.

"I was disappointed in the way the training staff of the Chiefs handled the situation. When things like that hurt, when you get hurt, especially something that could be serious like mine was, you're supposed to rely on the team's training staff or their doctors," Van Noy explained. "And I was supposed to see a ophthalmologist, which is somebody who checks out eyes, performs eye surgery.

"And they took an entire quarter to get down to talk to me in the locker room, which to me, is unacceptable," he added. "The way it took time was super unprofessional to me... As a player, people have that expectation of you being professional, handling business and in a time of need, I wanted that from them, and I felt like I didn't get it."

He spoke about this to call attention to the issue, and not because he wants to hear back from the Chiefs.

"I don't want them to come out and apologize. It is what it is. It's all good. I don't need them to come out with a press release and say they apologize. We take care of our players. Blah, blah, blah," Van Noy said. "I experienced it. I know the training room that I was in knows, we know the truth.

Van Noy also pointed to the Chiefs 2023 Report Card which was released by the NFLPA. In it, players gave the training staff a D-, which was the lowest grade in this specific area.

"With the lowest rating and concerning qualitative responses, we learned that players’ key concerns are with head trainer Rick Burkholder (not the rest of the training staff, which is generally well liked)," the NFLPA wrote. "Player respondents expressed beliefs/opinions that: They feel discouraged from reporting their injuries, They do not feel they get the level of personal care that they should, They fear retribution for speaking up for better care."

So clearly Van Noy isn't the only one who has experienced this. The Chiefs players feel the same way.

This is a problem the team has to address going forward before it becomes even worse.

Van Noy why not blame the Bengals for not bringing specialists to every away game? Quit batching I doubt they were trying to hurt your situation and until you get a medical license then STFU! This is probably a stunt you are using to bad mouth Chiefs because of losing the game.
