Jason Kelce's latest confession about Eagles playbook will have fans pulling their hair out

For the first time in 13 years, the Philadelphia Eagles took the field without the heart of their offense, Jason Kelce.

Despite Kelce's absence along with sloppy field conditions and sloppy play, the Eagles managed to leave Brazil with a 34-29 win .

Like many of us, Kelce watched the game from the couch, well in his friend's and current Eagles trainer Joe O'pella's basement.

"It was weird watching the game," Kelce said on the latest New Heights podcast episode. "I mean last time I watched the game was when I was out of the lineup in 2014 with an injury. So it felt weird watching and not being able ...especially not being on the sideline. Like there's nothing you can do. You're watching the game and you want to know why certain things are happening or what happened here or what are we getting to. You're just taking the game in. You're just like watching and you're just like, 'uh.'"

With Cam Jurgens replacing Kelce at center , the Eagles' offense totaled 410 yards and was two of four attempts on the brotherly shove.

Perfecting their infamous tush push is something the Eagles will need to continue to work on but they're on the right track, according to Kelce.

"First of all, it's a really hard play to run when a lot of guys are running it for the first time," Kelce said. "Once you run it a couple of times, you know how to run a quarterback sneak. You get into a rhythm and you understand how it's going to happen. I think they had a new piece at center with Cam even though he play guard it's different when you're snapping the ball and doing it. And then Mekhi Becton being new at right guard.

"They picked one up and it felt very synonymous with the season before. Really, since Jeff Stouland's been there we've been running quarterback sneak. They got stalled on one and then the other one that didn't work was a fumbled snap. And that's another one, you can only rep that snap in the way it feels live. The reality is you're so far leaning forward and trying to get leverage it's a very awkward snap to get to the quarterback if you're doing it right. I got to think, especially with the slick field, there were factors there that led to that fumbled one. But I think the reality is that the more reps these guys get at it, the more it's going to get back to that 90-plus success rate."

Kelce Reveals Eagles Had a Play for Him to Score a TD

While discussing the Eagles and the rest of the Week 1 slate, Kelce also revealed that the Eagles had a play up their sleeve for him to score on the tush push in 2023.

However, they ultimately never got to test the play since they dropped their 10-1 start to the season last fall.

"We did have a quarterback sneak play in at the end of the year but we were so bad that we didn't get to the trick ones, so never got to do it," Kelce said. "There was one in there where we were going to do like a tush push with me taking the handoff but we didn't have time for shenanigans. We were trying to get the entire offense fixed."

Kelce never scored a touchdown during his long NFL tenure, but he's okay with that.

"It's fun to score touchdowns but it wasn't my job," Kelce said. "My job was to facilitate. I'm a facilitator. I'm Dennis Rodman. I'm setting screens, rebounding and dishing it back out to the skill guys. That's what I'm doing."

Not only will Eagles fans have to deal with what happened in 2023 forever, but they will also have to deal with being robbed of a Jason Kelce touchdown, and that's just not fair.
