Oklahoma Sooners are very hopeful they could get one of their more missed players back vs. Tulane

The Oklahoma Sooners have dealt with injuries all offseason long, and that has unfortunately carried over into Week 3, where the Sooners are looking to go 3-0 on the year against Tulane. The first two games of the year weren't great, especially considering they were against the Temple Owls and Houston Cougars, two terrible FBS teams.

A big reason is the injuries they have had , specifically on the defensive side of the ball. The Sooners started the season with Jayden Gibson , who was hurt in the offseason, as well as Nic Anderson. Then, Jalil Farooq and Branson Hickman got hurt in game one, along with some others. Andrel Anthony also started the season recovering from an injury.

The Sooners offense has been putrid. And, it could very well only get worse the harder their schedule gets. Jackson Arnold is throwing to players, besides Deion Burks, that he doesn't have as good of chemistry with. The guys he does, well, those guys are all hurt. He primarily worked with the ones and twos all offseason.

Now, we are seeing the Sooners be forced to play some threes and even fours at times. Then you look at the offensive line, and it's the same issues, along with the fact that guys are switching positions every game. They need consistency, and they don't have that yet.

Luckily for them, they can start getting some of that consistency back soon.

According to Brent Venables on Wednesday during the SEC Media teleconference, Nic Anderson, one of their best weapons, could be back this weekend.

"He practiced yesterday and looked good. He practiced in a team setting so we are hopeful," Venables said.

So, that's great news, especially for sophomore phenom Jackson Arnold, who hasn't had the best start to his career as a starter but hasn't been too terrible, either. The offense could start to find their way this weekend, especially if Anderson finds his way into the lineup. Arnold and company will respond the correct way.
