Chiefs don't receive the injury news they were hoping to get ahead of Week 2 vs. Bengals

Kansas City Chiefs fans might have to wait a bit longer for WR Hollywood Brown's debut.

Brown missed Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens with a sternoclavicular joint injury. As practice got underway on ahead of Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Brown remained out of practice due to his injury.

"As far as the injuries go, really the only person is Hollywood (Brown)," Chiefs HC Andy Reid told reporters. "He is the only one that's banged up there, so he's continuing to rehab and get himself healed up. But he won't be out there today."

While Brown has not suffered a setback, it's clear that he's not quite on the same timeline that Tyreek Hill was on back in 2019. Why is that the case? Well, every player is different and heals differently.

"Yeah, they all set a little different," Reid said. "So, I mean, it's something that has to move to get back into place. They all set just a little different and heal them. From what I understand, I'm not a physician by any means. So, they're all just a bit different. I mean, you're talking just centimeters of being off can be a problem. So you want to make sure those things are healed and that they're actually in the right spot. So, you know, we're having them see different people that are experts at that. There's, there's not, I don't think there's a ton of data on it, especially in our field here, but football, but that's, that's kind of what's going on. But as far as working hard and he feels good, he's, you know, he feels, feels like he's in a pretty good spot. So, it's not him that he would have been out there the last couple weeks if he had a choice, not the best decision to make, but it's, you know, you got to, you got to trust the doctors here."

Whether he is on the field or not for Week 2 against the Bengals, he'll still be making an impact with his teammates on the sideline at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

"Hollywood (Brown), he's doing good in his recovery," Chiefs rookie WR Xavier Worthy said. "But he's also like a guy, hurt or not, he's going to look out for you. He's going to make sure you're all right at the game. He's looking out for guys. You need water, you need the gun. So, it's just good to have a (veteran) like that look out for guys."

    • Tee Higgins did not participate in the first practice of the week for the Bengals, which tracks with ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter's recent prediction .
    • Logan Wilson and Kris Jenkins missing from practice means that the Bengals could also be shorthanded on the defensive side of the ball this week against Kansas City.
