NASHVILLE - Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was limited in Tennessee's season-opening loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Hopkins played on just 17 of 61 offensive snaps. He was only targeted once in the game and finished with one reception for eight (8) receiving yards.

Not having Hopkins at 100 percent was a big loss for the Titans offense. Will Levis played his worst game as a pro and would have benefited greatly from having his favorite target on the field more consistently.

Luckily for Levis, Hopkins, and the Titans, the latest update on the veteran wide receiver's health points to a bigger role for him in the home opener.

“He wasn’t ready to play 65 plays in a game, so we rotated him in a little bit, got his feet wet, and he’ll keep continuing to get stronger and feel better, and his role will increase as he feels better," said Callahan after the Titans loss in Chicago.

In Wednesday's press conference, Callahan made it seem like that role increase for Hopkins is happening sooner rather than later.

"He's going to be closer to full. [We're] still being mindful of what we're asking as he gets in shape and starts to feel better and better. But I see his role increasing," said Callahan. "He should practice more and his role should increase. Should feel a lot better about where he's at this Sunday versus last."

Hopkins did not appear on the Titans' injury report on Wednesday after being listed as a limited participant all throughout last week. All signs point to him being close to full strength for a big game against the Jets. It's a big bump for Tennessee's chances.
