Anthony Richardson has hilarious response about playing at Lambeau Field early in the season

Quarterback Anthony Richardson is from Miami, he played in Florida during high school and college, and now plays in a dome with the Indianapolis Colts. So it's fair to say that he is not used to the Green Bay weather. Happily for him, the NFL scheduled the Colts game against the Packers for September , which means the temperature will be just fine next Sunday when the Colts go to Wisconsin.

Ahead of the week 2 game, Richardson had an hilarious answer when asked about the luck involved in playing there in the first month of the regular season.

"Oh, you should know I'm excited, man, because I'm a Florida guy. I know it gets real cold there, and I don't want to be freezing my butt off," Richardson mentioned. "So, I appreciate us playing them early."

Beyond the weather, there are special elements about playing at Lambeau Field. The Packers' stadium is the oldest still in use in the NFL, and it brings unique factors for those playing there.

"I'm pretty excited. I hear a lot of stories – Joe (Flacco) told me a couple of stories about going there," Richarson added. "He showed us a video of him walking through the tunnel and everything. So, I'm excited. It's early in my career as well, so I definitely appreciate that."

This will be Anthony Richardson's first game against the Green Bay Packers, and the first one at Lambeau Field.

    The other side

Both teams are coming off week 1 losses. The Packers were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil on Friday, and will possibly be without quarterback Jordan Love — the door is still open for Love to play , but Matt LaFleur is preparing to put Malik Willis on the field.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen, though, respects Matt LaFleur and won't let the quarterback decision affect his preparation.

"If you look at what he's done in Green Bay – his history, he's had a lot of success," Steichen said. "Obviously, going from (Aaron) Rodgers, who's a hell of a player, and then (Jordan) Love had a ton of success last year at the end of the year – and obviously Week 1. I think he does a really good job of adapting to his players. So, whoever's out there, whether Love plays or Malik (Willis) plays, we've just got to be ready for either one."

For both sides, it's the first interconference game of the season. And it's a highly significant one, considering that less than 10% of teams in NFL history that have started 0-2 ended up making the playoffs.

And playing against the Colts has been a challenge for the Packers. The last win for Green Bay was in 2008, Aaron Rodgers' first year as a starter in the NFL. Since then, the Colts have won games in 2012, 2016, and 2020.
