Former Tennessee Vols running back Ty Chandler was involved in a scary play on the New York Giants' sideline in Week 1 of the NFL season.

Chandler, who played at Tennessee from 2017 to 2020 before finishing his career at North Carolina in 2021, is currently the Minnesota Vikings' No. 2 running back behind Aaron Jones.

In the fourth quarter of the Vikings' Week 1 win against the Giants, Chandler rushed the ball for a gain of six yards before getting pushed out of bounds on New York's sideline. Chandler was pushed to the ground and he crashed into Giants outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen.

According to The Athletic's Dan Duggan, Bullen suffered a broken leg that required surgery as a result of the play.

This isn't the first time that we've seen a former Vol involved in a play like that on the sideline.

Last season, New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, who played at Tennessee from 2015 to 2016, crashed into a member of the chain gang on the sideline.

The chain gang member suffered a dislocated knee .

There's not much you can do in that situation if you're on the sideline. There isn't much time to get out of the way. By the time the play is happening in front of you, it's usually too late.
