NFL genius has very different thoughts on Raiders HC Antonio Pierce than the fan base currently does

The Las Vegas Raiders lost Week 1 to the Los Angeles Chargers and it seemed like the entire fan base was all of a sudden out on head coach Antonio Pierce. Of course, that's just the nature of an overreaction by a normal fan base. However, that overreaction isn't necessary. Antonio Pierce had one questionable decision, and that was the fourth and one play.

Other than that, everything else that happened fell on the coordinators or the players. The turnovers are not on Antonio Pierce, especially the Gardner Minshew one where the ball quite literally fell out of his hand. The Zamir White one isn't his fault either, and the offensive line issues do not fall on him either when players are banged up and injured.

Could he be better in some areas? Why, of course, he could. But, I think we need to remember that he is technically still a rookie head coach. So, why is the fan base already giving up on him? One NFL genius, and former quarterback, is not giving up on him.

"I wouldn't worry about the Raiders," Tony Romo said after the game. "Antonio Pierce is the real deal. I played against him, I communicated with him a bunch since he took over last year, and I think he is outstanding in almost every area that you want your head coach to be. He has the ability to communicate with the players at a very high level. He has a standard that he sets that they follow.

"These players play as hard as any unit or team that you will see on tape. They had too many turnovers, and I think that kind of cost them when they were in that position to extend the lead. There are a lot of positives there even though they didn't get the win. I think they will have a really good year, they are just in a tough division."

Romo is one of the smartest NFL minds around, so smart that he usually tells what's about to happen during the game before it happens. I trust his judgment so far, especially because we are only 10 games into Pierce's coaching career and he's 5-5.

And, that's barring being given a bad situation, and now some injury issues along with players simply not executing. He's a former NFL linebacker who knows how to rally a locker room. Pierce is just fine, for now.
