The Las Vegas Raiders are in a unique position because they just drafted two of the best tight ends in college football of the last five years. Now, figuring out how to use them both in an offense that seems clunky and non-responsive is another topic for another time.

Michael Mayer, taken in the second round in the 2023 NFL Draft, and Brock Bowers , taken in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, are set up to be great players, with Bowers having the potential to be an All-Pro player. And, while Michael Mayer's rookie season was a snooze fest because of everything that happened last year, Bowers' rookie season is off to a great start.

Bowers didn't explode or go off or anything like that, but what he did is something that the Raiders loved.

"Impressive, impressive. I thought butterflies were there, young rookie. I don't care how much football you've played in the SEC or anything like that. You go out there in your first game, and it's real; it's different. And you could just tell how he was. Once he got that first catch, he kind of came on the sideline, shook his mask right in front of me, and I said, 'Okay,' then made a big play down the field later on," head coach Antonio Pierce said.

"But I just think there's so much more there, not just with Brock, but even with Big Mike [Michael Mayer]. I thought they made some great catches. And what I love about both of them, really physical in the run game. They had some tough matchups going against [Joey] Bosa and [Khalil] Mack and the things we're asking them to do and they didn't shy away."

The Raiders have all of the weapons they need to have a great offense, with the best receiver in football in Davante Adams, maybe the best No. 2 receiver in football in Jakobi Meyers, a deep threat in Tre Tucker, and two tight ends who have the potential to be top-five at their position, each.

However, the offense still can't seem to figure anything out. Of course, the offensive line being so bad doesn't help, either. Bowers will get better, and maybe that will help the offense improve as well, who knows?

But, what you can tell, is that Bowers is special, and it's only a matter of time before he shows everyone what we all already know. Who knows, that could happen against the Baltimore Ravens, after what looked to be a promising game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
