Predicting the College GameDay locations for the rest of the 2024 college football season

ESPN's iconic College GameDay pre-game show will be in Columbia this weekend for the South Carolina Gamecocks' matchup against the LSU Tigers.

It's College GameDay's first visit to Columbia since 2014 when the show was in town for South Carolina's matchup against the Missouri Tigers.

Earlier this week, ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit revealed that the plan was for College GameDay to be in Lexington this weekend for Kentucky's matchup against Georgia. But the Wildcats' loss to South Carolina last weekend threw a wrench in those plans.

Herbstreit's tweet is a reminder of how tough it can be to predict each week's location. But that's not going to stop us from trying to predict the location for each remaining week of the 2024 regular season.

    Week 4 prediction -- Tennessee @ Oklahoma

This seems like a lock. It's Josh Heupel's return to Norman and it's the Sooners' first SEC game. And it's a night game. It should be an electric environment at Oklahoma and it would make sense for ESPN to be in town for a historic matchup. Also a possibility: Utah at Oklahoma State

Week 5 prediction -- Georgia at Alabama

Nick Saban may not be at Alabama anymore, but anytime these two programs play each other it's a big deal. Georgia will be looking for revenge after losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship game last season. Also a possibility: Oregon @ UCLA

    Week 6 prediction -- Miami @ California

Miami looks like the early favorite in the ACC. California, meanwhile, could be 4-0 with wins against Auburn and UCLA when they host the Hurricanes for a conference showdown. Also a possibility: Alabama @ Vanderbilt (if Vandy beats Mizzou)

Week 7 prediction -- Ohio State @ Oregon

Another fun first time conference showdown could be the pick in Week 7. Both of these teams are championship contenders and there should be plenty of hype around this matchup in Eugene. Also a possibility: Penn State @ USC

    Week 8 prediction -- Georgia @ Texas

This might be the biggest game of the regular season. It's hard to imagine GameDay not choosing to be at this game. Also a possibility: Alabama @ Tennessee

Week 9 prediction -- Nebraska @ Ohio State

There are some folks who think Nebraska could be undefeated going into this game. If that's the case, then I could easily see it being GameDay's choice in Week 9. Also a possibility: Missouri @ Alabama

Week 10 prediction -- Air Force @ Army

There aren't a lot of great choices in Week 10. So instead of doubling up on somewhere that GameDay has already been, or instead of choosing a not-that-compelling matchup, I could see the show heading to West Point. Also a possibility: Ohio State at Penn State  (obviously a compelling game, but the show might want to go a more unique route in Week 10)

Week 11 prediction -- Georgia at Ole Miss

If Ole Miss is still in the playoff picture (and I suspect they will be), then this feels like a no-brainer. Lane Kiffin vs Kirby Smart will be cinema. And this could be a very important late-season matchup when it comes to playoff seeding. Also a possibility: Oklahoma @ Missouri

Week 12 prediction -- Tennessee at Georgia

Both programs are hoping this matchup will determine the winner of the SEC. And if that's what's actually on the line in Week 12, then this is absolutely where GameDay will be. Also a possibility: Utah @ Colorado

Week 13 prediction -- Iowa State @ Utah

This would be dependent on both teams still being in the playoff conversation. This is another week without an obvious choice, which means it will probably depend on how the season has played out so far. Also a possibility: Wisconsin @ Nebraska

Week 14 prediction -- Texas vs Texas A&M

This will be the first matchup between Texas and Texas A&M since 2011 (when the Aggies left the Big 12 for the SEC). It would be a shock if GameDay isn't in College Station for what should be a wild matchup. Also a possibility: Kansas State @ Iowa State
