Former Tennessee Vols standout gets massively robbed by the NFL because of Will Levis

Former Tennessee Vols defensive back Alontae Taylor was absolutely robbed by the NFL this week.

Taylor, who is in his third season with the New Orleans Saints, put up some huge numbers in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers.

The former Vol became the first defensive back in Saints history to record three sacks in a game (and just the 13th defensive back in NFL history). Taylor also had six tackles and a pass defensed in the blowout win against Carolina.

Despite the historic performance, Taylor didn't earn NFC defensive player of the week honors.

Instead, that honor went to Chicago Bears defensive back Tyrique Stevenson.

Stevenson totaled four tackles and an interception in the Bears' Week 1 win against the Tennessee Titans.

The interception by Stevenson, which was returned for a touchdown, came after Titans quarterback Will Levis inexplicably threw a pass as he was about to get sacked. It was one of the more horrendous interceptions that you'll see all season.

If Levis just takes a sack there, Taylor almost certainly earns NFC defensive player of the week honors (and the Titans probably win the game).

Taylor, however, still should've won the award. Three sacks by a defensive back is something we've rarely seen in NFL history. But we see a pick-six nearly every week.

Unfortunately for Taylor, the NFL got this one wrong.
