The biggest match-up advantage the Titans have in Week 2 against the Jets

NASHVILLE -- The Tennessee Titans (0-1) blew a 17-0 lead to the Chicago Bears (1-0) in their 2024 season debut without allowing an offensive touchdown. When they host the New York Jets (0-1) on Sunday, they will have to put out a much cleaner offensive performance.

Both clubs are hungry for their first win of the year.

Titans Must Disrupt Aaron Rodgers, Jets Offensive Line

A 3-1 turnover differential in favor of Chicago was the biggest reason for Tennessee's Week 1 collapse. The most damning of them was quarterback Will Levis' first fourth-quarter interception that Bears corner Tyrique Stevenson returned for a the touchdown that would provide the final margin of defeat. Facing New York is a much different test.

The Titans biggest advantage is their interior pass rush.

Defensive tackles Jeffery Simmons and T'Vondre Sweat are an absolute force for any offensive line to reckon with. Neither player individually recorded a sack in Chicago, but the impact of Simmons (6-4, 305 lbs) and Sweat (6-4, 362 lbs) was obvious. The Bears regularly slid help to try and block up Simmons in Week 1, which allowed Sweat to take advantage of one-on-one match-ups.

Sweat, Tennessee's second-round pick in 2024, was more than happy to take advantage.

"I think T'Vondre Sweat really showed up for us both in the run and the pass game, which was really nice to see," coach Brian Callahan said after the Bears loss. "I thought we got great pressure all day long. Forced Caleb (Williams) to do what we were hoping to do is keep him in the pocket as best we could and then when he went to go extend plays to get him on the ground. And I thought for the most part, we did a really good job there. So the rush and coverage worked together well and defensively, they put (up) a winning performance."

If the Titans are to get right in the win column against the Jets, disrupting veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers's timing and rhythm in the passing game will be essential.
