Browns win over the Jaguars comes with a concerning possible reality for Cleveland through two weeks

After the outcome the Cleveland Browns had against the Dallas Cowboys followed by the recent news around Deshaun Watson last week, they had to come out and answer the call in Week 2.

Cleveland did that. They handed the Jacksonville Jaguars their second loss of the season by a score of 18-13. Watson and the offense looked better overall, but it was still not good enough, especially with the penalty issues.

There was one glaring issue within the offense and that came with the expected WR1 on the team. Amari Cooper has had an awful start to the season and Week 2 against the Jaguars was the worst of it.

Cooper was targeted seven times and registered just three catches for 11 yards against Jacksonville. The former Pro Bowl wideout had just two catches for 16 yards in the season opener against the Cowboys. Through two games, the Browns need and want a whole lot more from the player who has had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons for them.

Cooper had at least a pair of drops and both came on plays where it would have netted first downs and more for the Browns. Against Dallas, Cooper dropped a would-be touchdown as well. It is of note that the Browns offered Cooper in a trade for Brandon Aiyuk from the San Francisco 49ers prior to the season , according to multiple reports.

Luckily for the Browns, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy stepped up with five catches for 73 yards. The offseason acquisition from the Denver Broncos has had a strong start to his tenure in Cleveland. Elijah Moore made six catches for 44 yards as well for Cleveland.

For an offense that does not have tight end David Njoku, Cleveland really needed Cooper to step up against Jacksonville. Instead, he laid a tough performance out there and it is concerning now that he has hit age 30, where wideouts often fall off.

Cleveland got the much-needed win but they need and expect more out of the No. 2 on the offense. If they want to go anywhere, they are going to need him.

Just about time I thought “looks like the defense will hold into a victory “ they couldn’t stop JVille, 10 unanswered. Then penalty city on the last drive drove em back 30 yards out of field goal range. The punt to the 1 yrd line was the play of the game…. But almost lost in spite of that
