Former Tennessee OL Trey Smith explains why he didn't celebrate with his former college teammate after wild NFL TD

Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Wanya Morris, a former Tennessee Vols player, was on the receiving end of a Patrick Mahomes touchdown pass in KC's win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.

Morris, who played at Tennessee from 2019 to 2020 before spending his final two seasons at Oklahoma, caught the touchdown in the third quarter, giving the Chiefs a 17-16 lead.

If you watched the celebration, you might have noticed that Chiefs offensive lineman Trey Smith wasn't part of the on-field celebration.

Smith, who was teammates with Morris for two seasons at Tennessee, told Chiefs reporter Darren Smith after the game that he ran back to the sideline as soon as the play was over. In fact, he didn't even realize Morris had caught the touchdown at first.

"I only realized it [when] I got to the sideline," said Smith of Morris' touchdown reception. "I felt bad because in the game, my job was going opposite of the play. So when it got caught, I wasn't really considering who caught it. And I got to the bench and I was like 'oh my god, he caught the touchdown'. So my fault, Wanya. I should've been there to celebrate."

Smith also noted that he's not jealous of Morris' touchdown catch.

"Nah man, I'm a guard, bro, keep the ball away from me," said Smith.

Sounds like Smith is more than happy to be just a blocker.
