In his first press conference of the week, Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott turned the attention forward to Monday night's home matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, starting off with a crucial injury update.

"Taron [Johnson] and T.B. [Terrel Bernard] will both be out for the game this week, everyone else will practice, which will include Dawuane Smoot, Javon Solomon, and Casey Toohill," McDermott said to open his media availability.

Once again, it's a mixed bag.

After Taron Johnson's Week 1 forearm injury , McDermott declined to put any sort of timeline on his return to action. It was expected that he would miss Week 2, which he did, and his injury will continue past Week 3. Being ruled out on the first practice of the week is not ideal, as details to the severity of his injury are few and far between.

More recently, Terrel Bernard's injury is worth a ton of attention. In last Thursday's matchup with the Miami Dolphins, Bernard went down with an injury and did not return. It was reported early in the week that Bernard dodged a major injury with a pectoral strain as opposed to a tear, and that he's expected to miss about a month.

McDermott was asked if there was any update about Bernard potentially heading to Injured Reserve, to which he answered "no new information right now. We'll just keep taking it one day at a time."

On the positive side of the information that McDermott provided, Smoot, Solomon, and Toohill all returning to practice is a massive boost to the depth at the edge position. The pass rush has been holding their own, particularly with Von Miller and Greg Rousseau stepping up as great pass rush options, but having depth behind them to add more fresh legs is certainly a benefit. We'll watch the injury status on the three of them as the week progresses.
