New Orleans Saints fans were frustrated with quarterback Derek Carr often last season. He would even admit that he heard those doubts, probably. Regardless, 2024 has seemingly been a resurgence for him and the entire Saints offense.

Carr has a clear sense of confidence and direction when talking to the media this season. It looks and sounds different from the veteran QB.

He's ready for the weekly challenge, but the Saints QB also knows that he and his teammates owe it to the city of New Orleans to perform better than they did in 2023.

Derek Carr excited for atmosphere in Caesars Superdome

"We had to prove it to our fans. We didn't give them good enough football last year."

Last season was another campaign with no postseason play for New Orleans. They did not win the NFC South, and Carr was incredibly inconsistent while dealing with a multitude of injuries.

This year, he's been the best QB in football through two weeks.

Fans on social media are reminiscing about times of Drew Brees' offensive success - in a good way, right now. Of course, Carr is not Brees, and fans should never expect that from their starter. No one is Drew Brees, expect Brees himself.

That being said, 91 points in two games would open the eyes of any fan base, and the national media showing plenty more respect for the black and gold, too.

Carr is not the only one going above and beyond so far for New Orleans' offense so far, either. Their star running back is playing some of the ball of his pro career and proving any doubters wrong from before the season began.

Alvin Kamara stepping into major role

Kamara is not just running the ball with efficiency. He's also stepped up in pass protection and the receiving game.

His receiving skills came into question over the past two years because offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. refused to get him open in space.

Under new OC Klint Kubiak, Kamara is proving that he has not lost his unique ability to turn a little bit of space into massive chunk gains for New Orleans.

The differences are stark this season for New Orleans on offense. Derek Carr and co. are driven to prove that they have the talent in the room to be legitimate contenders in the NFC in 2024.
