Minnesota Vikings round out practice squad with LB, could factor in on Sunday vs. Houston Texans

The Minnesota Vikings have filled their final spot on the practice squad by signing linebacker Max Tooley. Earlier this week, the Vikings brought in linebacker Kwon Alexander for a workout but have decided to not bring him at this time.

Tooley was an undrafted free agent coming out of BYU during the 2024 NFL Draft cycle. He signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent which raises the question as to why the Vikings brought him in.

Did they bring in Tooley for a reason other than playing for the team? Well, he does have a better understanding of the Texans' defense this season. Last year, Jonathan Greenard, Blake Cashman and Shaquill Griffin all played with the Texans last season.

It's a tactic that many try to use during the season to get any kind of edge they can. Tooley is worthy of a practice squad spot in a vacuum, especially after his performance with the Texans during the preseason. It will be curious to see if the Vikings will drop him after Sunday's game.
