Offseason suspicion is looking like it could be true for Ohio State after third win of the year

When you want to be a team that has goals and plans to win a National Championship in college football, you are going to have to have an identity.

This past offseason it looked a lot like the Buckeyes have an obvious identity thanks to what they added. Adding Quinshon Judkins from Ole Miss in the transfer portal has been a huge addition that is a key part of their obvious identity to this point.

Ohio State is going to ride this two-headed monster of Judkins and senior TreVeyon Henderson all season long. Will Howard is a solid quarterback and he has shown that through three games, but this team will go as far as the running game can go. The potential is there to all the way with it, it is definitely that good.

In their 49-14 win over Marshall, Judkins ran the ball for 173 yards and two touchdowns on 14 runs. The transfer back broke free for an 86-yard burner and was tough to bring down all day. On the season, Judkins is up to 336 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns through the 3-0 start by Ohio State.

Henderson had as good of a day you can ask for as well with 76 yards on six runs and two touchdowns. The senior has four rushing touchdowns and 207 yards through three games. Ohio State is undoubtedly going to put up two 1,000-yard rushers this season and it may not take more than 10 or 11 games to do it.

Ohio State had a healthy offensive line for the first time this season with left guard Donovan Jackson making his season debut.

Howard and the passing attack was working against Marshall and he finished 16-of-20 for 275 yards and a pair of scores. Howard threw his first interception of the season but he is playing very well to start his Ohio State tenure. A stable passing attack with weapons like Jeremiah Smith, Emeka Egbuka, and Carnell Tate to throw to help this engine go.

Spreading teams out with all of their weapons and handing it off to Judkins or Henderson is going to be a staple for Ohio State this season and it should be. You don’t often have two early-round NFL talents in the same backfield with both being draft-eligible. The Buckeyes are going to keep both of them fresh by rotation and they’ll hope to ride them all the way into January.

It is only matchups against Akron, Western Michigan, and Marshall thus far but it is clear that Ohio State has an identity and we had an idea it would be the case once Judkins committed.

Ohio state has one of the very easiest schedules they don’t have even one really good team to play against
