Former Florida Gators/Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer made a comment about the Tennessee Vols this week on The Triple Option that will get fans in Knoxville fired up.

Meyer noted that he has Tennessee as the No. 4 team in college football after the Vols' win against the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman this past weekend. While discussing Tennessee, Meyer pointed out that he has an NFL guy who scouts that believes the Vols look like the "Tennessee of old".

"I got inside information there (on Tennessee)," said Meyer. "And I ask every week. I have an NFL guy that scouts around and helps me with some stuff. He made the comment, 'it looks like Tennessee of old, that's the respect I had for the old Tennessee outfit'.

"And I know Nico (Iamaleava), the quarterback, we all love him. I think he's certainly a Heisman candidate. I think he's a top 10 pick after next year. He's gotta do a couple of things a little better. They went into Norman, OK and when you go into Norman, he had a good day, but you're at Oklahoma and you find a way to go win that game. As I said on [The Big Noon Kickoff Show] and I'm going to say it again -- he's not the only show in Knoxville. They are balanced on offense, they have a good run game. They're good in the trenches. And they're very good on defense. Obviously we're going to find out. They're jumping into the rest of the SEC coming up here....I have them No. 4, potentially the No. 3 team in the country."

"I think they'll be in the SEC Championship game," added Meyer.

For nearly two decades, loyal Vols fans have longed for the "Tennessee of old".

And it certainly looks like that's what Tennessee fans are getting these days thanks to Josh Heupel and the culture he's created. The Vols are explosive on offense, they play with swagger and confidence, and they're stingy on defense.

Tennessee always had the potential to be the "Tennessee of old", they just had to find the right guy to get the program back to that standard. And Heupel is undoubtedly that guy.
