Injuries are not a new thing to the Denver Broncos. In the last three or four years, they have had some of the most devastating injuries you can think of when it comes to key players, role players, and depth players all finding a way to miss a large portion of the season. It's unfortunate and not something teams can control, and this year, in a way, was no different.

And, while you never want anyone to get injured, that oftentimes sets up ways to find out that some of your depth pieces, and even bubble roster players, are really good. They have found that out quickly with Baron Browning out.

Browning was injured in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he saw a foot injury take him out for last week's game. So, last week, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, former UFL standout Dondrea Tillman , the backup behind Browning, had himself a day. He finished with two sacks and a few tackles for loss, against a decent offensive line, too.

That's awesome for the Broncos' depth on the edge, as Jonathan Cooper and Jonah Elliss pretty much make up the snaps opposite of Browning and Tillman. But now, the Broncos will be getting a boost as early as Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints.

Head coach Sean Payton swiftly confirmed that Browning will play this season, it's just about when.

“Yes, yes. That's a fair question. He's on short-term injured reserve," Payton told reporters Wednesday.

In other words, he will be taken off. If he said just injured reserve, it would be different. Short-term injured reserve means he will be back this season. Since he's on IR, he isn't eligible to return until Week 7, so, that's the earliest this defense could get him back.

But, they are getting a boost soon nonetheless. Let's not forget about how good Browning is. The Broncos were fine with trading away Bradley Chubb because Browning showed a lot of promise.
