Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart lost more than just a game in Week 5 vs. Kentucky

The Ole Miss Rebels, coming into Week 5, had one of the best players in the country based on what had happened prior to the week. Jaxson Dart, the three-year starter for the Rebels, has been amazing this year, and maybe one of the favorites, if not the favorite, by many media and fans to win the most coveted individual award in college football. He's also looked at as a top-five quarterback for the NFL Draft.

Entering the week, Dart sat at the top of the country in passing completion percentage at 79%, and second in passing yards behind Miami's Cam Ward. Dart was also tied for the third-most passing touchdowns in the country, according to ESPN.

But, as Ole Miss started to let Kentucky in the game, and Dart started to mismanage the game, you started to see his Heisman Trophy odds fall, as he just wasn't playing well at all.

Kentucky won the game and beat No. 6 Ole Miss, their first ranked road win since the 90s when they beat No. 4 Penn State. The Ole Miss Rebels didn't just lose the game, Dart lost his Heisman odds, too. Because once you have a bad game like he did, there really is no room for error.

There are so many other great players out there, that it's almost like what you did before that bad game doesn't matter -- not to the voters.

In this game, Dart struggled to move the ball, almost the opposite of what he did all year long prior to this game. He threw for 261 yards, a touchdown, and completed 66% of his passes, so on paper, it doesn't look as bad. But, he took four sacks, with a few of them being his fault, as he showed almost no awareness.

It's not over for the Rebels. They can bounce back and hope another SEC powerhouse team starts to fall off. But, as for his Heisman odds, he will start to drop.
