Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Reacts to Embarrassing Week 4 Loss to Bucs: 'It starts with me'

The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-2 after falling 33-16 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in embarrassing fashion on Sunday afternoon.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts was 18-for-29 for 158 yards with a touchdown and two fumbles, including one lost in the red zone. He was sacked six times.

Hurts remained calm in the postgame press conference, though he dodged the first question asked about his red zone fumble.

"Overall, I just have to play better," Hurts said. "I gotta play better. I have a ton of opportunities to lead the offense and really play complimentary ball and that starts with me on that side of the ball. I would get down like we did. I have to help the defense out. Executing and communicating the things I am seeing on the field and really creating the moment we need just to get in the end zone. It starts with me in terms of getting in the end zone and leading drives and I didn't do a good enough job with that."

Hurts was then asked about the impact of not having wide receiver A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith. He dodged that question too.

"I didn't play good enough," Hurts said. "That's what it comes down to. The opportunities. I put a lot of time in this week to take advantage of this game and what we had and the guys we had a lot of trust in and we took advantage of some and some we didn't. But ultimately, it starts with me."

With and without Brown and Smith, the Eagles have now gone four games without scoring in the first quarter. What needs to be done differently?

"I gotta start fast, I have to play better,' Hurts said.

Hurts then went on to say that the team is still trying to find its identity, like many other teams across the league.

Now, the Eagles will enter the bye week where they have some time to get healthy and one step closer to figuring out that identity before returning for the easier stretch of their schedule.
