Bills' quarterback Josh Allen has blunt reaction to controversial trick play

The game got out of hand early for the Buffalo Bills, especially getting punched in the mouth with Derrick Henry taking his first carry for an 87-yard touchdown. Coming out of halftime down 21-3, Josh Allen and the Bills offense worked hard to mount a comeback, getting a touchdown to bring the score to 21-10.

The defense held Baltimore to consecutive three-and-outs, getting the ball back to Allen. Driving with an opportunity to make it a 21-17 game, offensive coordinator Joe Brady tried to dial up a trick play. It went horribly wrong.

Allen's response when asked about it after the game was blunt.

"Coach called a shot. Guy made a play. Simple as that," Allen said.

The "guy" that made the play was veteran Kyle Van Noy, a longtime foe of the Bills throughout his time with the New England patriots. Van Noy burst off the edge getting past Dion Dawkins basically untouched, blowing up the pitch from Samuel to Allen.

After that, he was able to chase down Allen, diving and knocking the ball out of Allen's hands for a fumble. Baltimore jumped on it, and the comeback was over.

Baltimore saw Allen lined up wide to the left, five yards behind the line of scrimmage, and did not care. They pinned their ears back and flew downhill like they did all night, creating a momentum-killing turnover in Baltimore territory.

It was a huge moment that completely turned the game on its head. From that play on, Buffalo never threatened again, failing to score any further points. On a night where the Ravens' rushing attack was dominant from the jump, it wasn't in the cards for the Bills to pull off a comeback when their defense wasn't giving them the chance to do so. Calling a desperation trick play and seeing it fall on its face in the worst way possible was a nail in the coffin.
