How Jordan Love played against the Vikings, and what the Packers can expect from him throughout the rest of the season

Jordan Love arrived at Lambeau Field wearing a Brett Favre jersey. Well, Love's performance was a full Favre experience. Big plays, big mistakes, a lot of touchdowns and yards, too many interceptions.

Considering that Love was coming back from injury and not fully healthy, it was still a promising overall performance. He finished the game completing 32 of 54 passes for 389 yards (career high), four touchdowns, and three interceptions. The Packers lost 31-29 after starting down 28-0.

"I just wasn't playing well enough, the ball placement was all over the place today," Love said, saying that his knee felt fine outside of one play in which he got hit after a scramble. "I picked up later, but early on I just missed a couple of throws and was a little bit off. I made it hard on some of the receivers on a couple of those plays."

    Love back

The Packers' starting quarterback was back after missing two games. He was clearly not 100%, especially adjusting his footwork to protect the left knee. Overall, it wasn't a bad performance by Love, but he had two turnover-worthy plays in the first half — his aforementioned first interception, and a 4th & 10 desperate throw to Bo Melton in the end zone that ended up incomplete. Love's second interception was a product of a Romeo Doubs' drop.

Drops, by the way. It was impossible for Love to have a solid stats day with so many of them. Multiple from Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks (including a would-be touchdown), for example. For a timing-based offense, the expectation is that everything will get better as soon as the quarterback is fully healthy again.

And you could see Love's progress even throughout the game.

"I did think he looked, as the game went, it seemed to me that he looked more and more comfortable," head coach Matt LaFleur said. "He made more explosive plays, which is tough to do when a team is sitting back in two-shell. There are a lot of good lessons that come out of every game, just unfortunate when you're on the other side with a loss. You'd like to learn your lessons with a win."

In the second half, the offense was more productive — taking advantage of a Vikings' defense playing a little more soft. The best drive of the day was rounded out by a six-yard touchdown throw from Love to Wicks.

Presumably, Jordan Love will feel better to face the Los Angeles Rams next week in California. His expectation is that the injury won't bother him for the rest of the year.

"I hope it will continue to heal and get better," Love added. "But at this moment, yes, there's definitely that and it's one of those things, it's football. We play a physical sport and there's injuries and you have to fight through some stuff."
