Ohio State is 4-0 to start the season and have outscored their opponents 225-27 to start the season. Last week’s 38-7 win over Michigan State was the most that the Buckeyes have been tested to this point .

However, that is going to change. Over the next four weeks the Buckeyes are going to be tested a bit and we will have a better feeling of who they are.

Ohio State will host Iowa this coming Saturday, then travel to take on Oregon next week. Then, the Buckeyes will have their second bye week before playing Nebraska back at home. On Nov. 2, Ohio State will travel to Penn State in what will be another tough game.

There has been national displeasure in Ohio State’s schedule to open the season. They played against Akron, Western Michigan, and Marshall to open the season. Washington coming to the Big Ten ruined their original plan of playing them this season, so the out of conference schedule was weak to say the least.

Iowa is a 3-1 football team that is always sound on defense and well coached. Even if the Buckeyes are three score favorites, it should be a step up in overall physicality. Following that, the Buckeyes have what may be their toughest game of the season on the road against Oregon. That is going to be a battle between two top-five teams potentially.

Nebraska is 4-1 and former Ohio State verbal commit Dylan Raiola is their starting quarterback. They are a solid football team, even if they are not a College Football Playoff level team. Ohio State coming off of the bye week after Oregon helps them here.

On the road at Penn State is always a tough environment to play in and one that the Buckeyes have struggled in before. The Nittany Lions are another top-10 team awaiting Ohio State.

These four games are going to test Ohio State a bit and we’re going to have to see how they operate in crunch time and close games. Will Howard is going to have to make big plays at some point and Ryan Day is going to have to go for it on a big down surely.

Ohio State could even have their backs against the wall at one point during this stretch and it would be interesting to see how they respond. Being tested during the season is a very good thing with the expanded College Football Playoff format.

There are big plans in place for Ohio State to beat Michigan, win a Big Ten Championship, and compete for a national title. Watch how they perform over the next four games, it could impact those things a lot.
